A Grain Cooler is not simply an air conditioner placed near a warehouse. It is a special agricultural cooling system designed to condition air to the temperature and humidity required by stored grain, then deliver that air into the grain pile or storage space through a controlled ventilation process. Its purpose is to reduce grain temperature, slow respiration, suppress insects and mold, maintain grain quality, reduce chemical fumigation and support long-term green storage.
For grain storage operators, grain reserve companies, food processing groups, agricultural engineering contractors and government storage projects, the real purchasing question is not “which unit is cheapest?” but “which cooling system can reduce storage loss, protect grain moisture, resist dust and corrosion, operate intelligently and remain reliable during long storage seasons?” HISURP answers this question with dedicated grain cooling engineering, factory manufacturing capability and project-based customization.
A grain cooling system takes ambient air, removes dust through filtration, cools the air through the evaporator, adjusts humidity through reheating or moisture control, and then sends conditioned air into the warehouse or grain pile by a variable-frequency centrifugal fan. The outlet air temperature and humidity are automatically regulated by the PLC control system according to the set values.
In practical grain storage, low-temperature storage means keeping grain pile temperature below 15°C for low-temperature storage or below 20°C for quasi-low-temperature storage. This is internationally recognized as a scientific and pollution-reducing storage method. It can reduce losses caused by insects, microorganisms, grain respiration, high-temperature heating, mildew and frequent grain turning.
Grain is still biologically active after harvest. Temperature, moisture and oxygen influence respiration, insect reproduction, mold activity and quality deterioration. If grain stays warm for a long time, it may lose freshness, develop insects, increase respiration heat and suffer from dry matter loss.

Stored grain pests are active within approximately 15–35°C, and their most suitable reproduction temperature is around 27–32°C. When grain temperature drops below 17°C, many pests cannot complete their life cycle or cannot develop quickly enough to cause serious damage. At 8–15°C, insect activity is greatly reduced. HISURP grain cooling equipment is designed for high refrigeration efficiency and low energy consumption. The hot air is discharged upward, reducing interference from ambient wind direction and helping the unit maintain stable operation. The optional return air inlet can support circulation cooling ventilation, improving cooling efficiency of the grain pile and reducing energy consumption.
Variable-frequency fan control allows the airflow to adjust automatically according to operating conditions. Instead of running at full load all the time, the system matches airflow with actual cooling demand, helping reduce operating cost during long storage cycles.
Grain cooling is not only about making air cold. If the outlet air is too dry, grain moisture loss increases. If the air is too humid, condensation and mold risk may increase. HISURP equipment conditions air through cooling and humidity adjustment, then supplies air that matches the set temperature and humidity. This supports moisture preservation, uniform cooling and safer grain storage.
The equipment adopts PLC intelligent control with automatic, manual, ventilation and timing operation modes. A 7-inch large display can be configured to make parameters, results and settings easy to view. Operators can set outlet temperature and humidity according to storage needs and climate conditions, then the unit can run automatically.
For modern grain depots, remote monitoring and unattended operation are increasingly important. HISURP systems can support intelligent remote monitoring, helping operators manage running status, alarms and working modes more conveniently.
Grain coolers are often used outdoors or near warehouses. HISURP uses stainless steel material and advanced processing technology to improve corrosion resistance and appearance durability for long-term outdoor use. The product series can meet different warehouse types, grain varieties and climate regions. It is suitable for vertical silos, shallow round warehouses, flat warehouses and different grain or oilseed storage conditions. It can support southern and northern climate conditions and is especially valuable for rice, wheat, corn and oilseed storage.
In early low-temperature storage attempts, some grain warehouses used ordinary air conditioners to reduce warehouse temperature. Although this showed some benefit, long-term operation revealed serious problems. Ordinary air conditioners are not designed for phosphine corrosion, heavy dust during grain loading/unloading or moisture preservation during grain cooling.
HISURP granary dedicated air conditioners are designed to solve three major challenges:
During fumigation, phosphine and hydrogen sulfide may corrode ordinary air conditioning components. HISURP applies anti-corrosion coatings, seals motors, resin-seals lead wire sections and places control circuits where corrosive gas contact is minimized. The surface of indoor temperature sensors can also use high anti-corrosion coating.
Grain loading and unloading creates large amounts of dust. HISURP uses wide-fin spacing, large heat exchangers and suitable structure design to reduce blockage risk. This improves long-term stability compared with ordinary comfort air conditioners.
A key risk in grain cooling is excessive dehumidification and surface grain moisture loss. HISURP granary dedicated units use large airflow, large heat exchanger and high sensible heat ratio design. This helps reduce condensation water and better maintain grain moisture.
