Part 1: The Genius of Modular Design

A modular chiller breaks away from the traditional single, large compressor unit. Instead, it comprises multiple independent, smaller refrigeration modules-each a complete air cooled chiller in its own right-within a single frame.

How it Works: A sophisticated master controller intelligently stages these modules on and off based on the real-time cooling demand (load).

Key Benefit - Precision Matching: Instead of a large unit cycling inefficiently at partial load, only the necessary number of modules run, each operating at its peak efficiency. This eliminates the "all-or-nothing" energy waste common in traditional systems.

Part 2: Harnessing Nature with Free Cooling

Free cooling, also known as air side or water side economization, is the process of using cool outdoor air to provide cooling without running the energy-intensive compressors.

How it Works: The system is equipped with an additional plate heat exchanger. When sensors detect that the outdoor temperature is low enough, it automatically switches modes:

Mechanical Cooling Mode: When outdoor temps are high, the system operates as a standard air cooled scroll chiller, rejecting heat through its condenser.

Free Cooling Mode: In colder weather, valves redirect the warm water from the building loop through the free cooling heat exchanger. The cold outdoor air (often via a cooling tower) absorbs the heat directly, bypassing the compressors entirely. The compressors remain off, saving massive amounts of energy.

Integrated Mode: In mild weather, the free cooling system pre-cools the water, significantly reducing the workload on the compressors.
