Principle And Introduction Of Dual Cold Source Precision Air Conditioner

The control of the temperature and humidity environment inside the data center room depends on the indoor air conditioning terminal. The room air conditioning has the characteristics of high efficiency, high sensible heat ratio, high reliability and flexibility, and can meet the increasing server heat dissipation, humidity constant control, air filtration and other requirements of the data center room.

With the stringent requirements of PUE in different regions and the widespread application of high-density servers, new cooling methods in data centers are being developed and used more and more, and dual-cold source compact air conditioning is one of them.

1. Product Features and Applications

★ Generally, core IT equipment rooms are equipped with dual-cold source precision air conditioners to improve the continuity of cooling.

★ The investment cost of dual-cold source precision air conditioners is relatively high, but it improves the cooling safety factor.

★ Since two sets of coils are installed in the same frame, dual-cold source precision air conditioners are larger in size and heavier in weight, and have higher requirements for space and floor loads.

2. Composition of dual-cold source precision air conditioning system

Dual-cold source precision air conditioning is equipped with two sets of different/independent refrigeration coils. This article mainly introduces the air-cooled direct evaporative/chilled water type dual-cold source precision air conditioning unit. The unit composition is shown in the figure below. The unit is mainly composed of a frame, indoor EC fan, control system, inlet and outlet air temperature and humidity sensors, chilled water coil, electromagnetic two-way regulating valve (electric ball valve), chilled water pipeline; Freon evaporator coil, condenser coil, compressor, throttle valve, dry filter, Freon pipeline, etc.

3. System operation control principle

The unit consists of an air-cooled direct evaporative refrigeration system and a chilled water coil. The chilled water system is used first during normal operation of the unit. When the chilled water system cannot meet the cooling demand (return air temperature and outlet air temperature are continuously high) or the chilled water system fails (chilled water is interrupted, chilled water supply temperature is continuously high), the unit controller automatically starts the air-cooled direct evaporative refrigeration system.
